Cairngorm Circuit - A mountain bike tour forming a circuit round the Central and Eastern Cairngorm Mountains, one of the last remaining wilderness areas in Europe.
We take in some of the best drove roads, forest and single track sections of the Wildcat Coast to Coast Mountainbike Route.
Passing through Speyside and Royal Deeside along magnificent glaciated glens, past remote lochs and continually changing views to descend one of the longest and most spectacular mountain tracks in Scotland.
A tour across the Southern Uplands represents for many people, the undiscovered face of region.
Yet this is an area steeped in Scottish history and immortalised in our literature; Robert Burns, James Hogg, Sir Walter Scott etc.
Our route starts in Wanlockhead, the highest village in Scotland, and moves east along the fine border tracks and roads to Galashiels. As the valleys tend to run north to south, this provides us with challenging ascentsand many long descents. The Romans were here first to lay the foundations for our single track.

A tour with a strong historical theme, following the natural line of the ancient drove routes used by the Highland clans, passing by rugged Glencoe on sections of the West Highland Way.
On through the spectacular Lochaber Glens past Scotland's highest peak, Ben Nevis, to follow in the footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie to the Cairngorm Mountains. Returning through dramatic glaciated glens to Breadalbane andGlen Lyon, perhaps Scotland's finest glen. Finishing on the quiet cycle track through the Trossachs and Rob Roy country.
We
head north through the Trossachs and Rob Roy country into Perthshire, Scotland's
most beautiful county.
Our route winds its way round the numerous lochs tracing the old cattle drove roads past the majestic mountain of Schiehallion.We pick up the natural lines taken by General Wade for a spectacular descent into the Great Glen before heading north by Loch Ness on the Jacobite route to finish at Inverness Castle.
Our final section on single track surfaced roads passes through Scotland's most spectacular mountains. This is road cycling at its best, through national nature reserves and winding past the numerous small lochans and unusual shaped mountains formed during the ice age. We pass through small crofting communities, following the coastal road which offers magnificent seascapes.
A short ferry over the Kyle of Durness, with its beautiful golden beaches, and the ride over the moorland road to the lighthouse at Cape Wrath provides a fitting finale to our tour.
A route not to be missed by the geologist and ornithologist.
